Summer travel is so glamorous!

Well…that is, until humidity hits. Then you’ve got sweat and mascara dripping down your face in the middle of Florence in July (speaking from experience here.)

Thankfully, there are so many amazing new products out there to help keep you calm and cool as you get out there and explore the globe. Here are a few of my favorites I can’t wait to try this season.

  1. Sephora Collection After Sun Watermelon Mask: This cooling mask helps calm down your skin after a day by the pool. It also preserves your tan so you can maintain that glow.

  2. Sol De Janerio Bum Bum Beauty Voyage: Don’t forget about your bum bum! With this travel-friendly duo, you get a yummy smelling fragrance mist and a firming cream for your behind, legs, arms and belly.

  3. Kopari Beauty Coconut Mini Melt: Is there anything coconut oil can’t do? In this case, it removes stubborn makeup, hydrates and even soothes chapped lips. Bring this tiny bottle with you everywhere-it will be a lifesaver. (Note: Photo is 5.1 oz., but it also comes in 2.5 oz. for travel.)
  4. COOLA Summer Size Sunscreen: Sunscreen is always a must. ‘Nough said.

4 Favorite Coats for Fall Travel

Thank you, fall weather, for making it so easy to know which jacket to wear! Just kidding, you’re impossible.

It’s either still summer during the day at your destination, so you need to layer it up and disrobe while you are walking around. Or, it’s chilly, windy, and/or damp, but not quite cool enough for a winter coat. Hmm…
Here in San Francisco, it’s sunny and in the 70s and 80s during the day. By 5 p.m., though, it’s chilly. So frustrating! So what’s a gal to do? I say bring at least two coats this time of year but stick to options like blazers, trenches and light wool blends that fold up easily in your luggage. That way, you’ll have options!
Here are a few I’m crushing on right now.

Tweed Blazer

I love a great tweed blazer for fall. It makes you look so pulled together, even if you’re just wearing skinnies and a T-shirt. A blazer is also a great choice for travel—you can wear it on the plane, accessorize with scarves and some fun earrings, and you’re good to go.

Sporty Puffer

Doesn’t this time of year just make you want to get outdoors and hike? If you’re planning an active getaway, make sure you have a sporty jacket that’s going to keep you snug and cozy while you crunch around in the leaves. PS: This one packs down into a pocket and will take up zero space in your bag. It’s been a lifesaver for me on many chilly flights and cool mornings.

Faux Leather Moto

The leather moto is one fall trend that seems to make its way back ’round year after year. And for good reason. We could call this jacket a classic, I’d say. It will help you fit right in, whether you’re in New York City or Milan. Consider it an investment, because you’ll be wearing it a lot.

Wool Blend Coat

A lighter peacoat functions amazingly well for fall. They can still be bulky, though. So think of a straight wool blend jacket like this one as a longer blazer. It will help you look sharp, you can layer it up, and it will keep you warm, too! Plus, it still can pack easily (try placing it on top of your other clothes in your suitcase) and you can wear it pretty much anywhere. Don’t forget to pick out a fun color that pops.

The 5 Best Travel-Size Beauty Products for Fall 2017

Wherever you’re jetting off to this fall, make sure to pack plenty of hydrating products. They’ll help your skin adjust to the dryer air and cooling temps. Here are a few of my favorites for this time of the year. They are all 3.5 ounces and under so you can pack them for the flight and use them throughout your trip.

  1. Julep Love Your Bare Face Hydrating Cleansing Oil

I usually stock up on makeup remover wipes before I travel. They are so convenient to use at the airport before an overnight flight or at the hotel after an exhausting night out. But lately, I’ve been reading about how horrible they are for your skin. That’s why I’m so excited to try this hydrating oil. You can easily pump it into your hand and massage directly on your face before rinsing with warm water. It will get rid of stubborn makeup and leave your skin feeling hydrated and soft. (Buy it here, $12)

2. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea

facial spray

I already own the Rosewater version of this spray, which is incredibly refreshing to spray on your tired, lizard-like skin after flying. For some reason, the smallest size rosewater comes in is still 4 ounces, so I’m always nervous to try to sneak it in my makeup bag. Thankfully there’s a tiny 2-ounce, travel-safe size of the aloe, cucumber, green tea version. It smells garden fresh and will wake you right up, even if you’ve gotten zero shuteye. (Buy it here, $5)

3. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Concentrate

Personally, I find it inconvenient to pack a bunch of different lotions when I travel. But I don’t like to go an entire week or two without under eye cream (wrinkles wait for no one, friends.) Enter this tiny, 0.5-ounce bottle which barely takes up space in your carry-on, but is going to feel amazing to dab under your eyes after a long haul trip. (Buy it here , $37)

4. Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

If you want to try to look as awake as possible immediately upon landing, this compact mascara will give you the mega volume you’re after. It’s also the perfect size to throw in your day bag or evening clutch and re-apply as needed. (Buy it here, $14)

5. Erborian BB Crème au Ginseng

Travel is never easy on your skin, especially during this unpredictable time of year. If you need to cover up any redness (and I always do after a flight) you can’t go wrong with this travel-friendly BB cream. It contains moisturizing and smoothing ginseng and promises to deliver a “baby skin” effect. It also contains SPF 20, so you’ll stay protected from whatever the weather brings. (Buy it here, $39)
